Brave heart

Part one

When you speak to me

Your speech is encrypted

A system code that I cannot decrypt

Oh but I noticed you’ve since adopted the habit of trying to take my heart on a trip to soothe your ego

I’m done collecting hope and

making excuses for you

My head hears you but my heart stopped eons ago

Face it I’m only human

And I have one lifetime to run wild

Love strong

and being hurt, just does not make the playlist or figure in my cards

But I kept a decker for you

I taught myself to tune out when you speak

I used to dream of loving you

Before butterflies told me

Such things as steadiness of heart

And a knowing deep inside existed

And I know that I know that my heart

Knows

Taking you would mean I’m settling

And I don’t settle

I didn’t even know that Until

Something you did went from being

Sweet to nauseating pretty fast

Like don’t hold your breath

That trick don’t work on me no more

I work with scissors, pencils, colors and erasers

I can cut you out, draw you in or

color you into my world or plainly erase you.
